WelcomeThank you for visiting. Dark Ascensions is Book 1 in the Issachon series by CMour B. This website is not going to contain much, since there isn't really any new news to be written about a book that is finished. However, you might find some of the following interesting if you have read the book. The name - Dark AscensionsIf you do a search on Barnes and Noble, you will find a page full of books with titles really close to Dark Ascensions. I named the book DA because the web domain was available. Nevertheless, had I known that dozens of other books shared essentially the same name I would have named the book anything else. I think the book title Using Nasal Spray to Extinguish Fires hasn't been taken, so that might have at least been unique, even IF it had nothing to do with the story. I guess I should mention that I won't be telling you why the book has that name since I would need to give away something of the plot. Short Story on the writing of Dark AscensionsWay back in 2003, I knew a gal who was super creative and loved writing. (I am not sure, maybe she even went on to college to get a degree in writing. I wouldn't know, I haven't talked to her in the last 19 years.) I was chatting with her on AOL. (I throw in that detail to prove how ancient the event was.) She told me, most emphatically, that "you can't write a book without first creating an outline." I took the challenge, and Dark Ascensions is the result. During the past 20 years, there have been whole years where I didn't write at all. And, of course, at the end is the "publishing phase," which, for a new author, is a complete and utter nightmare that should take a month or so, but instead takes four months. About two years ago, when I finished the book, I sent it to a copy editor who beat up the manuscript as copy editors like to do. Among many other admonitions, she insisted that I needed to split the book in two - the original was too long. Ouch I split the book in half, which has TWO important ramifications to you if you choose to get involved with this series. Number 1 - Since Dark Ascensions is only half of the "real" story, the ending is kinda less than you might expect of a finely crafted book. (You know, where the author uses an outline.) If the ending disappoints, I can only apologize, blame my editor, because... why not? and mention that Dark Ascensions is, after all, 300 pages long. So it isn't as though you didn't get lots of story for your $$$ Number 2 - The upside is that you shouldn't need to wait too long to find out what happens next, because the second book is already written. A couple of clarifications - Since I had to put an "ending" where none was intended, I need to make changes to the next book to align with changes forced into the first book. Then, I need to find beta readers, then make corrections, then formatting and the huge publishing process. I am thinking November, 2023. Since, as a new author, nobody knows me, you will probably be able to have one-on-one personal attention. |

Buy this- you won't regret it
Perfect beach read! On the light end of sci-fi with fantasy elements, lots of twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. My favorite element was the worldbuilding blending sci-fi and fantasy in interesting ways. I have read a lot of sci-fi and this was a fresh new take on the genre. Highly recommend!
Awesome story. Couldn't put it down. I immediately fell in love with Bendahrin and Alystra and almost lost my mind when they ran into the pirates. Clever word play had me laughing and I thought Chesleth Preller was delightful. Presents an interesting view of good vs evil and is a great story too! I just hope the next two volumes don't take long to come out. I'm dying to know what happens next! Author's answer: Book 2 is finished. However, since originally the content of Dark Ascensions was only the first half of the content found in it and book 2, I had to make changes to include some kind of "ending" to book 1. That means that I need to make a bunch of changes to align Book 2 with events that didn't originally take place before I broke the content into two books. With re-writing, checks by some beta readers, and then more re-writes AND detailed proofing, then formatting, I am hoping to be done by the first quarter of 2024. Thanks for reading.
Engaging story you won't want to put down! I am not usually a sci-fi fantasy reader, but loved this book. It's characters are compelling, the language is colorful, and it is well written. The author kept me guessing what would happen next. The best part was the characters and their timeless interactions with good and evil. I can't wait to read the next story.
My wife and I just finished reading through this, and it was an absolute pleasure. If you like science and magic in your reading then this is for you. The characters we’re interesting and well developed, and the universe this takes place in is super creative and fun. I can’t wait for more of this series! |
